Coaching By lift.clinic

The four principals of coaching that LIFT adheres to:

Establishing a Trusting relationship:

It's important  to understand your current situation and aspirations, both short term and long-term. By doing so, we can collaboratively create a clearer vision in  a safe and supportive space, free from judgement.  Being an individual who understands the challenges and triumphs of working in  the trades, who shares with your vision for a brighter future, and will rejoice in  your achievements is a privilege I cherish.

Maintaining a Coaching ‘Presence’:

My curiosity, adaptability and previous experiences will navigate the realms of  uncertainty, employing diverse strategies to assist the client and identify the  most impactful approach in real-time during your coaching journey. Together, we  will confidently examine various perspectives and experiment with new  pathways to take action.  The importance of the coaching relationship can evolve over time. I strive to be  attentive to these changes and adapt the dynamics accordingly. If necessary, I  may recommend that the Client look into other coaching options, professionals,  or resources that could better align with their needs.

Ground rules and Boundaries:

In our first meeting, we will explore the expectations, ground rules, and boundaries of our  coaching relationship. I encourage you to voice any concerns you might have, as this  feedback can help tailor the coaching experience to better meet your needs, whether that  involves continuing our work together or considering another coach or professional. We will work together to establish a mutual understanding of the ground rules and the  framework that will guide our coaching relationship. This will include:- A commitment to openness and honesty- Integrity in all interactions- A shared dedication from both the coach and the client to achieve the coaching goals.- Attending the coaching session fully present. – see below. By actively participating in defining these ground rules, we create a solid foundation for our  Coach/Client relationship, ensuring that we stay focused on effectively supporting one  another.

Clients attending coaching sessions Being fully present:

It is crucial for the effectiveness and clarity of the coaching process that the  client is fully engaged and present. If someone is affected by non-prescription  drugs, alcohol, or is simply not well-rested, it can greatly impact the quality of our  session. Since our time together is precious, it will be more beneficial to  reschedule the appointment for a time when you can be at your best.

1. Clearing

In our journey through life, we frequently encounter pivotal moments where we must make choices that influence our path ahead. These moments can arise unexpectedly, presenting us with crossroads that challenge our beliefs, aspirations, and priorities. Whether it’s a career decision, a relationship change, or a personal challenge, the choices we make during these times can have lasting effects on our lives.

It’s essential to take a step back and gain some perspective during these critical junctures. In the heat of the moment, it can be easy to become overwhelmed by emotions, pressures, and the opinions of others. However, by pausing to reflect, we can create space for clarity and understanding. This reflection allows us to sift through the noise and focus on what is genuinely important—your core values, meaningful relationships, and the passions that light up your life.

Your core values are the guiding principles that shape your decisions and actions. They are the beliefs that resonate deeply within you, influencing how you interact with the world and the choices you make. Identifying and honouring these values can provide a strong compass, helping you navigate through uncertainty and ensuring that your decisions align with who you truly are.

Meaningful relationships also play a crucial role in our lives. The connections we cultivate with family, friends, and mentors offer support, encouragement, and perspective. During times of decision-making, leaning on these relationships can provide invaluable insights and emotional backing. Surrounding yourself with people who understand and respect your values can help reinforce your sense of self and guide you toward choices that resonate with your true essence.

Additionally, it’s vital to recognise and nurture the passions that light up your life. These are the activities, interests, and pursuits that bring you joy and fulfilment. Engaging in what you love not only enriches your life but also fuels your motivation and creativity. When faced with difficult choices, reflecting on your passions can illuminate paths that align with your authentic self, leading to a more satisfying and meaningful existence.

Together, these elements—core values, meaningful relationships, and passions—serve as your foundation, offering you resilience and direction as you face various obstacles. They empower you to make choices that are not only beneficial in the short term but also contribute to your long-term happiness and fulfilment. By grounding yourself in what truly matters, you can approach life’s challenges with confidence and clarity, knowing that you are steering your life in a direction that is true to who you are.

Ultimately, the journey of life is not just about the destination but also about the choices we make along the way.

2. Conceiving

Let’s imagine the life you want and what hurdles have to be removed.

Imagining the life you want is a powerful exercise that can help clarify your goals and aspirations. It involves visualising not just the end result, but also the journey to get there. Here’s an expanded exploration of this concept:

### 1. **Defining Your Vision**

- **Personal Goals**: What does your ideal life look like? Consider aspects such as career, relationships, health, and personal growth. Are you envisioning a successful career, a loving family, or perhaps a life filled with adventure and travel?

- **Values and Passions**: Reflect on what truly matters to you. What are your core values? What activities or causes ignite your passion? Aligning your vision with your values will make it more fulfilling.

### 2. **Identifying Challenges**

- **Internal Challenges**: These may include self-doubt, fear of failure, or limiting beliefs. Overcoming these mental barriers is crucial for personal growth. Consider how you can build resilience and a positive mindset.

- **External Challenges**: These can range from financial constraints to lack of support from family or friends. Identify the resources you need and the obstacles you might face in your environment.

### 3. **Setting Goals**

- **Short-term vs. Long-term**: Break down your vision into achievable goals. What can you do in the next month, year, or five years to move closer to your ideal life? Setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals can help you stay focused.

- **Action Plan**: Create a step-by-step plan to tackle each goal. This might involve acquiring new skills, networking, or seeking mentorship.

### 4. **Building a Support System**

- **Finding Allies**: Surround yourself with people who support your vision. This could be friends, family, mentors, or like-minded individuals. Their encouragement can help you navigate challenges.

- **Seeking Guidance**: Don’t hesitate to seek advice from those who have achieved similar goals. Learning from their experiences can provide valuable insights and strategies.

### 5. **Embracing Change and Adaptability**

- **Flexibility**: Understand that the path to your ideal life may not be linear. Be prepared to adapt your plans as circumstances change. Embracing change can lead to unexpected opportunities.

- **Learning from Setbacks**: Challenges and failures are part of the journey. Instead of viewing them as roadblocks, see them as learning experiences that can strengthen
